What we Do

SMOKE HOUSE - The Smoke House is a tool we use to teach children how to get out of a burning house.  Currently we are training our members on the new mobile unit, so we can once again come to your site.

SAFETY TALKS/VISITS - Your organization can contact us to bring a truck to your location, where we will glad to present a safety talk, as well as let the children look in the truck and even climb inside.

Santa Runs - Your community can call our station to arrange for a fire truck to bring  Santa Claus to your development to pass out candy.

WAKE UP DELAWARE - This is a program to inform the community about smoke detectors and to help get them into the homes.  If you need a smoke detector, stop by and talk to us.  If you know someone that might need one, please let us know.

Firehouse Tours - We demonstrate the equipment that a firefighter wears in the event of a fire in the home, school, or anywhere we may be called to duty.  We encourage the children to come up to us, so as to show them that we are not scary monsters and that we are there to help.  We also show them the tools of the trade, as well as let them climb on the fire trucks.  The children are also instructed in the Stop, Drop, and Roll method.

Hardwire Smoke Detector Program - If you or someone in you household is over 65 or has a physical handicap, you may be eligible for a Hardwire Smoke Detector System.  Contact us for more detail.  We will pass your information on to the Fire Marshall's Office, who will in turn contact you.

911 Simulator - This is a device we use to teach the children what to do in the event that they should need to call 911.  The device has a phone and prompts the children each step of the way as if they were talking to a real 911 call taker.

Community Parades - If you are having a holiday parade, we will bring a truck for the children.  The truck can lead the children through your community and is also available for them to tour.  We also participate in parades, such as the St. Patrick’s Day parade in Wilmington.
